The Big Mac Hoax. aka OS X is a dog 397
Memory management or no memory management, the undeniable fact is that the Mac is s-l-o-w. Waiting 3-5 seconds per mouse click *at least*, with such few applications running, is *poo*, no matter how one looks at it. Well, I suppose we agree on one thing: the Mac that *Apple sells* *sucks* since it can't even handle the demands of its own bloated OS and FS. The Big Mac Hoax. aka OS X is a dog 399 I don't "hate Linux". I think its the best solution there is for a server OS. OTOH, it IS fairly useless as a SERIOUS desktop OS. I have the open source versions of the types... One thing I have learned from all this is that Macheads are so enamored of the Mac that they just *tune out* its very real problems. They honestly don't see them, because they are so in love with the graphics, and the "slick" interface, and the special effects, yadda, yadda, yadda.. When I told the guy who strongly encouraged me to buying a Mac how slow it is, he replied that he knew it is slow but wasn't too bothered by this, as if the slowness were a small price to pay to experience the coolness that is Mac. That's the hallmark of Twue Wuv (TM). For the rest out there, who still retain a grain of objectivity: stay clear of OS X: performancewise it is a dog.
