Mr. Lund, since you have a reasonable atbreastude, I will agree with you that my Apple Intel PC, on which I run XP Professional (or Vista Beta 2, and soon, Vista Release Candidate 1 -- or Release Candidate 2, if it gets that far before it goes "Gold"), is also known as an Apple Intel iMac 17" (whatever that is), on which I run OS 10.4.7, and next year, OS 10.5.

In both cases, it serves me well, and causes no problems at all, no matter which OS I use.

I certainly recommend the Apple Intel-based machines (whatever one wants to call them) to any user, Mac OS, or Windows XP.

I can't believe this. Nothing Apple could have done could have thrown one of MS's biggest advantages into sharper relief. There will be exasperated users who switch to Windows over this, and they...

However, I do not recommend the Apple MacBooks, since they do have a problem with overheating, making them not very safe for extended operation, as well as using shared memory for video, which slows down an otherwise excellent laptop.

From what I've heard, the MacPros are scorchers, and I do recommend them, rather than equally-configured Dells, which are more expensive than MacPros. Apple certainly has a winner on their hands with the MacPro. Even an entry-level MacPro would be an excellent platform for either Leopard or Vista, or both. Either OS would use the machine to its fullest potential.

If one prefers a more colorful Desktop, go with Vista. If one prefers a more basic and utilitarian Desktop, go with OS 10.5. But with a MacPro, one could have the best of BOTH OSes.

This should be an Apple slogan for its x86 machines: "Now you CAN have your cake, and eat it too!"

Yes. As long as the apps are there they users will come in time. But it will take time. This is not an attractive alternative! This is unattractive enough for performance-intensive apps...

But then the Macdroids and the Windroids would start arguing over WHICH OS is the "cake". Maybe it's not such a good idea after all.
