The Need for "Single Window Mode" 3243It is if you don't place and size the windows suitably. You can avoid it; but it means fiddling with all those windows. It's not rocket science, but who needs it? snip It's true that none of these *need* a lot of space, but they can often use it. I submit that one ongoing trend in modern UI is using more space; as displays get bigger and big displays get more common, apps are written to use that space. I presume they don't because they can't be configured to actually use that space. On windows you tend to see an ability to scale the UI- by hiding-showing panels and things like that. On the Mac, not so much, I notice. snip The Need for "Single Window Mode" 3244 The physical world often isn't 3D in any practical sense either, for the kind of tasks we're talking about. Work surfaces are basically... I don't think even that is quite enough; the app's single window will be in some random location and at some arbitrary size. Until you resize nad move it anyway. snip Yes, even then the problem is mitigated by having few windows. Who said anything about useful? I'm talking about tidyness. :D Yes, quite. Those are all excellent examples. snip
