Too bad the MBP 15" doesn't have FW800What does this say about users 2624 chose to bless us with the following wisdom: Were you not a Maccie I would dismiss this bit of sophistry as... I just bought myself a HDV video camera, the Sony HDR-HC3. It's an excellent camera. My old powerbook (1.25Ghz G4) doesn't, expectedly, import HD at full speed, but rather stays around 1-4 or 1-2 the speed, which of course works since iMovie buffers it and imports it even after the camera has stopped playing. So, I've begun thinking about upgrading my laptop. I haven't had a reason to do so, yet. The fact that PS is still not native will be a problem, but I hope it won't be too big of a problem... So, I'm buttuming the new MacBook Pro's would import HD at full speed, right? What does this say about users 33HumfHSaKlA~jG9gd* 2626 They like to play games easily mastered by elementary school students. Sheep buy what they are told to... So if I'm on vacation, I could just have my macbook pro with me and import HD and edit it and create small web movies for my family to watch, for instance, which is exactly why I would be doing this on my powerbook anyway (naturally, my desktop G5 imports it at full speed). But, the powerbookm only comes with one FW400, which I will be connecting the camera to. On my PowerBook, I am conecting my external LaCie 500GB hard drive to the FW800 port and thus the camera and the HD is on two different ports and data flowing from the camera to the HD won't be crowding the same interface. With the MacBook Pro 15", I can't do that... I'd have to buy the 17", which I don't want to... The other option is to run the HD on USB2, but when it has FW800, it's just stupid... Ah well, we'll see if I buy one or not. -- Sandman.net
