VISTA and OS X are not the same. 2851

Bujt we were talking about the GUI features of the old Mac OS that didn't make it to OSX. Everybody knows that the Old OS was long in the tooth and rather archaic and nobody is arguing that any of the things you mention against the old OS aren't true. They are. Everything you say about about the Mac system through OS9 are correct, and I doubt that anybody misses them. I know I don't. BOTOH, there were things about the GUI in OS9 which were very good showing a high level of maturity and extensibility and there were a lot of third party tweaks (like NOW menus) that took advantage of tha extensibility and maturity to the old GUI which made the old Macs much easier and more pleasurable to use than anything Microsoft (or Apple) ever thought of putting in any version of Windows or even in OSX.

Peter Hayes You speak out of ignorance, apparently not knowing anything about Vista. Of course, Mac fanatics know even less about Leopard and are already orgasming over...

That was in response to my buttertion that there were things in the old OS's GUI that I thought superior to OSX. Context, my friend, context.

From the feature lists that I've seen published, that's almost literally the truth. What the hell do you...

Why should they upset me? I agree with your overall buttessment. It's just that you're talking about aspects of the old OS that the thread wasn't addressing and therefore are irrelevant to the discussion at hand.
