Close -- Vista Public Preview is available. Since it isn't complete and isn't finished in important ways (according to Microsoft) YOU have to buttume this is NOT what the product will be when released. YOU are supposed to know that simple fact, even as you expect it to look mostly like it does now.

What? Since the most recent beta of the most recent one they made? That's not much of a history of performance to cite!

All products have bugs before they are finished -- but Windows releases are infamous for having LOTS more than average, and LOTS more than people would like, and most experts in the industry have chastised Microsoft for getting these out the door much too early. This isn't supposed to be news to you -- it's a very old story and one which has been repeated frequently over the years.

You're certainly forgiven that. It's fun to take a good look around a new product or tool, and exciting to be one of the early users.
