Edwin Well, believe it or not, the Intel iMac is my first Mac. Hell, I didn't even know what the Finder was when I took it out of the box. All of my previous personal machines have been either Windows or actual switch came because of my wife who is a graphic artist and needed a Mac at home to keep from having to spend so much time at the office. When all I was doing at home was email and web it really didn't matter to me. When I started playing with Photoshop and recording music - well, then it began to matter more. But - I have become a convert. Whether you believe it or not is irrelevant. Whether I fit into your vision of what an IT person is or isn't doesn't really matter either. As I said, I was on the other side of the debate for many years. Bottom line: OS preference is a religous decision. Any OS will likely do anything you need to do - unless your needs are quite specific and unique. In a real sense, the argument over which OS is better is rather pointless. I simply say that - imho - Apples are better-built hardware (nothing really to do with the OS), have a more intellegent set of bundled apps which appeal to me for personal use, and the OS is based on a firmer foundation (UNIX) than Windows. In fact, I see OSX as a UNIX variant. I like Apple's corporate persona better than I like MS's (although there is room for criticism in both courts). If you can't understand why another person might have a different preference than yours, then that is your problem. As they say, the definition of intellegence is being able to understand both sides of a debate. I understand the side you represent; I'm just not there anymore.
