John Slade Tailored computer? Explain that. Obviously if someone wants to have an awesome gaming machine then they will want a...

StormDrain napisaİİ(a): What point am I missing? I really don't need system wide spell check. It's a nice gimmick, but nothing more.

Gee, I'm affraid it isn't me who get a point. If MS would do such thing it would be nice for Win users. I use a computer for proffesional and private purposes. Over the years there was one case when I needed to create a PDF doc. Performance and price-performance factors are more important to me than built in PDF, despite it could be nice.

Afaik you have to run some application (bootcamp?) to do that. On Win, you have VMWare - it allows you to run a different OS without rebooting. If you need such a thing. How often do you do that?

A gimmik? It's a hand feature for both developers and users, But you don't know that. It's a handy feature to be able to...

Seriously, WinXP is a very stable system. I use it every day for ~10hrs and I really don't remember when something crashed last time. Ok, sometimes my movie players crash - but it's a codec related issue, happened to me on Mac too. But I can't imagine something crashing for such an obscure reason.

It has everything to do with you saying "3+ years on a 933 that simply gets faster". As I said: performance IS important. Remember, I'm not advocating here for MS. I'm considering differences between Mac and PC as a whole. And from that angle performance difference is an important factor.

Try google(PortInUseException Mac) - 82 results. Try it without Mac - ~800 results - API, tutorials and Mac problems. I notice, when I reboot and I never have to (except after installing certain new apps - elimination of this would be nice). Are you telling me that updates are a bad thing? Yesterday, while working on Mac I got 2.

Nothing, as I said I'm considering the differences. I really like the Mac I'm working on, but still I see no reason to switch for that price.
