What is this group 9Oh! I see some advocacy! TY - my comments inside What is this group 13 Yes, those are common responses: I don't need or I can get or MS will have it RSN. I'm afraid you miss the point. As I thought... I'll give you some background: I have a little experience with Mac, as a company I work for gave me a Mac Mini about a week ago to develop an app for it. What is this group 10 Yes, those are common responses: I don't need or I can get or MS will have it RSN. I'm afraid... StormDrain napisaİİ(a): Ok. I don't need system wide spell check, why would I? You can store pbuttwords on Win too, and you have a calc which does conversions. Ahh.. the search - 1 point for Mac. But as far as I seen there is no "uninstall" feature present by default - ie I have 5 versions of Java on it and I don't know how to safely remove the 4 I don't need. Smart folders are going to be present in Vista, afaik. You can't save a webpage to pdf directly (btw. there is IE6 by now ;) but there are free tools around that can export a html doc. On a Mac if you want to keep that web Not a clue. I use Acrobat Reader, I'm happy. I don't feel the need to export all my documents to PDF. PC can run as many OS'es as Mac (with the exception of MacOS) As for software availability, you must be joking - there is way more software on PC than it is on Mac. It ships with a Developers Kit ($300 add on to windows), all I use Java, eclipse, MinGW32 - the're free. Apache is free, perl is free. iLife is supposed to be great, is supposed: - GarageBand crashes (G4, tiger) and I can't find anything on the web that would explain me why. (Yes, I removed the movies - btw. you call this a stable system and yet this is veery serious bug, I can't imagine anything like that on Win) P4 2.8 is significantly faster than any Moto chip I've seen. If you are unhappy with windows, use linux. 1 point for PC. I use built-in firewall and free AntiVir, I haven't seen a virus-malware for a long time. This machine is snip I'm not Bill's fan either, but I got over the "only linux" stuff. I use my computer to work, I'm an experienced user. WinXP just works - I don't have to dig the web looking for scripts fixing issue with COMM port. I don't have to use terminal every time, I have to do something more advanced with my system. I save time this way. (2 points to PC) I'll advocate Mac myself a little: I like the expose and dashboard - cool stuff. I like spotlight. I like Mini because it's so quiet (2 points). I like it, because Mac itself and OS look good (as WinXP does, but I got used). If GarageBand would work I would like it too :( What I don't like: lack of power - I do software development and sometimes this f*ing rainbow of rest is killing me. THE PRICE !!! I can buy comparable PC from trusted manufacturer (hp compaq, dell, vobis etc.)3 times cheaper than Mac. I can buttemble it myself 4 times cheaper (still using the best components). (I live in Poland - maybe it's different in the US) Lack of extensibility. Regards Pablo
