Whatever Apple's considerations were really aren't important to this topic. This is about the toadie nature of the users. The real clue is the way AMD suddenly became 'the enemy' since its a rival to Apple's newest bestus buddy Intel.

Almost all the Mac users I see online are Oxford clones and so are nearly all of the ones I know in real life.
There was a lot of smoke but little fire. I remember the hissy fit that many threw in here when Apple put out a version of Quicktime that had a dial for the volume control but it was controlled like a slider. That too was a lot of noise with no action behind it.
