They probably are identical part numbers. You (nor I) have access to the tolerance data that your RAM sticks pbutted under. Again, probably no issue. I am just pointing out the differences.

I get in arguments with software folks about this one all the time. The OEM computer manufacturers are not testing RAM with little software tools. They have multi-million dollar machines that test memory. (Yes, software does run these machines if you want to really get down to brbutt tacks). These machines are designed to find issues with memory that software tools running on a PC won't find in a reasonable amount of time.

All PC based memory software diagnostics are going to do is give you a heads up on a really broken memory stick. If you have one "cell" out of millions that is not holding its charge long enough, or flakey, it can take a memory diagnostic program weeks to find it if at all. Your OS will occasionally blue screen over it, and you will be left wondering why.

Again, memory is much better quality than it used to be. Most runs are fine. I am just attempting to educate people who think that all RAM is RAM. It is not. Yes, the OEMs are charging you a lot for their RAM. They use it as a profit center. However, don't be fooled into thinking that they are just getting the same $60 stick that you are, and then charging you $180 for it. They are paying quite a bit more for that stick, even in bulk. When I was designing server hardware, margins for RAM were roughly 30% over cost. Yes, that is quite high in this industry, but not the 3x that you may be wanting to believe.
