Steel is now imported for the most part. There are other considerations that weren't taken into account,... like off shore outsourcing.

I doubt it. And it shows. Heck, the kids here are turning down $10-hour jobs because it isn't enough to fund their way thru college. Which is probably why there are so many help wanted signs in stores and restaurants.
