Of course Gold has a use. The thin wires to attach sections of chips together. Gold can be extruded the finest over any other metal. Now if gold was truly worthless, I'd like to have a nice solid gold frying pan... now with that you can cook eggs very evenly. Of course that pan would take both hands to lift to the stove tho. But there are many other uses for gold besides chip wiring.
Post WI Germany for one. But history will show this. Whenever another country invades another, and the invaded country loses, what becomes of the paper money? It disappears and is worthless. The smart ones left with the gold that they had, and could eventually get back on their feet in another country.
Well, it is just worse without the gold backing. If we were on a gold standard, we wouldn't be in Iraq. Why? They couldn't afford it.
