It sure impacted me. Back in the 70s I had good buying power... new house, new car, and money to invest. Late 80s... only a new car, not enough for a new house, and very little to invest. You should have seen 1980 thru 1986. Interest rates were in the double digit rates. That wasn't the time to borrow, yet the economy wasn't all that good then. The bank savings rate was a joke then, but I did get fair rates elsewhere. Just enough to get a 1 to 2% profit.
