Why Microsoft Should Fear Intel Macs" 489On 13 Jul 2006 10:32:05 -0700, "Dave Fritzinger" Personally, as a user of Windows XP on my Intel iMac, I see no reason for Microsoft to "fear" Apple's great new machine, considering that it will not encroach on Microsoft's territory, which is software, not hardware. I believe more copies of XP (and hopefully, Vista) will be sold because of the Intel Macs, only INCREASING Microsoft's market share. If Apple would release Windows drivers for the iSight camera and the Apple remote, Apple would synch its hold on Wintel switchers. Why Microsoft Should Fear Intel Macs" 490 On Sat, 15 Jul 2006 14:26:16 -0700, Donald McDaniel I must apologize: There IS another good use for OS X: It MUST be... The ones who DO need to "fear" Apple are the Dells and the other system builders, because Apple sure has a winner on its hands with the Intel Macs. If Apple would add in user-accessible hardware expandability beyond adding a little extra ram, the Intel Macs would take off like a rocket. As it is, I must pay an Authorized Apple Service Center to upgrade my 160gh HD to a larger one, or install a new Merom chip when they become available, if I want to keep my warranty intact. I am just not used to paying for upgrades in any of my computers. It has always been a simple matter to add a larger HD, or faster CD-DVD, or sound card, or better video. As far as Windows users switching to OS X...It will never happen, or only marginally, by a few percentage points at the most. Let's face it, the only good use for OS X is for is for security. Otherwise, its pretty much a dog. == Donald L McDaniel Please Reply to the Original Thread. ========================================================
