Why Microsoft Should Fear Intel Macs" 492
On Mon, 17 Jul 2006 15:33:13 -0400, Stuart Krivis Don't get me wrong: I do love my iMac. I firmly believe that Apple produces the very best "PC", and...

Apple will void your warranty if you replace the hard drive?

I share your concern about user serviceability. The Super Drive in my G4 is on its way out. I called Apple to determine how much a new one would cost. They won't sell me just the drive. I have to haul it down to their store and have one of their techs look at it. And then they'll give me a cost estimate for them to fix it. Of course I can't just take it down there. I have to schedule an appointment on their web site. And it seems that I can only do that for the current day unless I'm a ProCare member. A complete waste of time and effort on my part because they won't sell me just the drive. With a street value of ~$200.00 I suspect the cost of repair will exceed the value of the system. So I ended up buy a Macbook.
