Why Microsoft Should Fear Intel Macs" 520
It should NOT be the default behavior of the Recycle Bin to RETAIN files intact until the user empties it? You are really stupid, Wegie. You are cutting...

Stuart, weren't you aware of XP's ability to CONFIGURE the behavior of the Recycle Bin? We can turn OFF delete confirmation for the Recycle Bin if we want to. Just right-click on the Recyle Bin icon, choose "Properties", and uncheck "Display delete confirmation dialog" on the "Global" tab. In addition, the amount of space reserved for each drive's Recycle Bin may be separately configured. As well as those two, we can also opt to cause all deleted files to go straight to the "bit bucket", rather than the Recycle Bin. But take care with this option, since files sent to the "bit bucket" (actually a "void" device) by mistake cannot be recovered if needed, since they are not saved anywhere on an actual physical device. In fact, they are not saved ANYWHERE when sent to the "bit bucket". Such files cannot even be recovered by very low-level data recovery tools of ANY kind. Their file names are not even written into the Master File Table.

It looks like I've been under a misunderstanding all these years. I thought that checking "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin when...

This atbreastude is pretty much the same atbreastude ALL Microsoft developers have -- Give the users choices. Too bad OS X applications give the users few choices. Too bad Apple gives its users too few choices. Just too bad.
