Microsoft understands one thing which Apple and Mac developers don't: He understands that "most" people want to be able to tailor their Desktop the way THEY want it, not some condescending elitist's way. As a result, they sell MULTI-MILLIONS Of copies of Windows XP and other Windows products. And the Device manufacturers sell MULTI-MILLIONS Of hardware devices those same people WANT in THEIR machines (and PUT there THEMSELVES with little or no trouble.)
Because Microsoft has worked hard to keep Windows PCs an OPEN architecture, the PEOPLE get what THEY want, not what some elitist wants them to have.
Why would it be "too late", Georgie? I'm more than capable of defending myself. Most "brain-dead idiots" aren't. If some "brain-dead idiot" wants to "put a fist in my face", I'll just whip out my pistol and shoot 'em in HIS face, if I have access to a loaded weapon, or find the nearest board or rock and "whop" him over the head a few times (and without anger or rancor, I butture you). Most idiots are bullies, anyway, and could certainly use taking down a notch or two.
We DO still have the right to defend ourselves in this nation, George. I don't know how much longer we'll have it, but as long as we do, I'll defend myself with whatever means my hand finds.
By the way, Georgie, what's the difference between ME calling Maccies "brain-dead idiots" when THEY call Wintel users the SAME thing? Didn't YOU just call MOST computer users "brain-dead idiots", and suggest that GUI designers should DESIGN their GUIs for them?
But we know that all Maccies are hypocrites, don't we?
One MIGHT be able to take the Mac away from the hypocrite, but he can NEVER take the hypocrisy out of the Maccie.
