Widget Debate: Final update
Dreamweaver Debate 411 Thanks for the example of why you're a troll. Snit Objective Troll Criteria Summary ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 Obfuscation 2 X Antagonizing threads 3 Ignoring evidence 4 Antagonizing... ... the facts are that a guy named Macslut posed the following: "How many brain cells does it take to be able to remove a widget from its folder and relaunch dashboard (or restart)?"
On Fri, May 13 2005 - Snit's *ENTIRE* reply to that was: -- "It is not a matter of intelligence, but technical competence. Look in Apple's support site for removing Widgets: You cannot remove widgets from the Widget Bar or change their order. Ouch!" --
At this point, one thing is blatantly obvious... Snit is challenging Macslut's suggestion that removing the widgets won't be difficult. As can be seen, Snit sent Macslut to an Apple document from whicn Snit proceeded to quote one single line of text... a line that unquestionably challenged Macslut's suggestion. Once again, that line reads: "You cannot remove widgets from the Widget Bar or change their order." As you saw above, Snit then issued one word immediately below the quote: "Ouch!" Note that Snit *only* said "Ouch!"... Snit did *not* say: "Look in Apple's support site for removing Widgets" and you'll see they claim it can't be done. I, however, know for a fact that it can be done and here's how... Nope... beside being much more talkative on Macslut's other questions, Snit never said anything like this in response to this question (of course, the *next* day, after having researched the widget situation, Snit wrote about some of the things he had found out about widgets to that same thread). In any event, Tim Adams caught on to the same thing that I did regarding Snit's initial response to Macslut... and when Tim asked Snit about it, this was the response he received: "Er? I was in reference to the fact that Apple *states* that... not that it could not be done. Did you really miss that? Do you need me to point you to my earlier posts where I talk about Widgets? Are you just spewing BS trying to start another flame war? What is your goal here, Tim?" Anyone that can comprehend what they read knows this is a FLAT OUT LIE. Snit is trying to pretend he made an obvious reference that Tim should not have missed. What I posted above was Snit's *ENTIRE* initial response to Macslut on the widget removal issue. As can plainly be seen, initially, Snit never said *anything* about whether or not it could be done, he just pointed Macslut to an Apple document that stated it could *not* be done and he followed it with a one word exclamation of "OUCH!". As to the alleged "earlier posts" reference Snit mentions, it's notable that Snit asked Tim such a question as this (see below as to why): Dreamweaver Debate 413 You have shown countless times that for your argument to work one has to believe that... "Do you need me to point you to my earlier posts where I talk about Widgets?" Yes, let's look at your "earlier posts" where you "talk about Widgets" in *that* thread... and then we can watch you explain why they will show that it's Tim who is confused and not you. Here, I'll save you the trouble of hunting it down (there only was one). Snit "It is also largely suspected and rumored that Apple will be fixing this in 10.4.1. By the time the malware would be hitting, most users will likely already have a fix. Dreamweaver Debate 410 Hahahahah and what method will Snit employ to do that? Usually Snit can be seen taking what someone has... It it true, though, that this is sometimes the case for XP malware. The Dashboard in 10.4 does open security risks - software can be installed without the user's knowledge and done so in a way where the software is at least relatively likely to be run. While the software likely could not do much outside the user's account, if running as admin it can do more - and even if not as admin the software can still do plenty of damage. The sooner Apple fixes this the better off the Mac will be as a platform having malware spring up around this weakness is not unlikely and something that can hurt Apple. The media, I am sure, would jump on the first attacks against OS X. With Apple doing so well these days, it makes them a target not just for the malware writers, but the media looking for a story." OK, Snit... explain away. Start by addressing that your paragraphs here do *not* contain any mention of removing widgets. Oops! Your evidence is as f***ed as you are;) -- "Heck, OS X is not even partially based on FreeBSD" - Snit "Sandman and Carroll are running around trying to crucify trolls like myself" - Snit
