The story doesn't provide specifics about what is considered a bug.

Is it an OS design flaw kind of thing. Like say not being able to configure IE so that files display in a list?

Or is it integration with hardware and DirectX technology (or whatever).

...

It's harder for Microsoft to release a stable OS than it is for Apple because Microsoft has to build an OS that accomodates THOUSANDS of different hardware manufacturers.

Off Topic! But of interest to those who follow computer security or enjoy having their election votes counted: ---- Recently I've been turned into...

Apple only has to support a few third party manufacturers.

Microsoft can't be selective about third party manufactures but Apple can.

Even if Microsoft focuses on the PC band names like Sony, HP, and Dell. That may not help.

If lets say, Dell sells a high performance monitor, and the driver for the monitor is unstable, the user perceives that it's a problem with Vista (or XP or WinWhatever) instead of a problem with Dell's driver.

....

Anyway, after Microsoft releases Vista the WinBats will whine about "how unstable it is - how it sucks" - but they won't switch. So it doesn't matter if Vista is stable or not. Get used to it.
