And... Windows had surprised it by Win95 at least. That is when the sort of designs we are seeing with Aqua became prominent on Windows. snip That too, that too. :D However, I do feel that Aqua started out less like Windows, and has been evolving to be more like it. snip No; these sorts of libraries have existed for awhile to little visible effect. It *is* true that running on Intel will ease porting Windows games some, but first they gotta *want* to port. snip Well, it's one thing to have a digital camera, another to do image editing with a computer. snip- open source tech heads They seem to have had no visible effect so far. snip I don't know, maybe nobody, but if so then Apple is holding on in this niche by default, because nobody has set out to beat them... yet. snip No; I don't know what the education market wants. What Apple is doing is taking consumer-oriented products and cutting their features and prices to make them affordable to education customers. Not unless the now-discontinued eMac was such an attempt. snip Oh, please. I've heard this excuse before. Windows.. it's like coming home! 3402 You're buttuming that offering backwards compatibility is a better way to maintain customers than offering great new stuff for them to buy all the time. The truth... snip Yes, but IE and WMP have also been canned. MS is not abandoning the Mac, but they are clearly cutting their losses. Naturally, it makes sensed to cut the little used, unpopular things. snip Excel is used for everything. I mean, this is the One True App. The entire damn economy runs on Excel. It's scary. :
