Windows.. it's like coming home! 3400Windows.. it's like coming home! 3401 It does that, but it seems to me that you've depicted an Apple that does not try to retain its customers, but instead expects... The idea of reducing the number of windows is kinda obvious, and when Mac OS X first shipped Apple has several different tricks up their sleves to do it. Miller columns and drawers are two that spring immediately to mind. They have been shifting to using 'navigation panes', very much like what you see in Windows Explorer, Outlook Express, and many other programs. They've also been moving to a toolbar-centric approach, something MS has been criticized for, actually. You hardly need to use the menus anymore on either Windows or OS X. The two UIs are not identical, but they have drawn together quite a bit, I think. snip I feel sure I've seen such things advertised for the Mac. Perhaps I misremember. Still, I stand by this: first they gotta *want* to port. snip I snipped that because I think that's what a Mac booster would say, but I have now way to tell whether it's true. snip "Cutting their losses" is then an apt turn of phrase, no? :D snip
