Windows.. it's like coming home! 3418snip To the right, in the default config. But I do not put any apps in the taskbar; I use it for windows. And I find it handy that windows not minimized are there; I can bring obscured windows to the front easily. Apple does not let you configure too much. I consider adding that to by original post, but it was very long and I don't really do a lot of reconfiguration anyway. I do this on Mac OS X, but I don't find it necessary on Windows. Moving it seems unhelpful to me. You can make it small, but then all the icons you must click are small also. Oh, I *can* manage lots of windows with the Dock; but I find the taskbar preferable. No. You are not used the new XP start menu- it has a compatibility mode, but by default the XP start menu is not like the Windows 2000 one. In part, it actually has a dock like flavor- it gives you a quick place to put a small number of applications, apart from the complete list. Yes; they move on the screen as apps open or windows are minimized. They maintain their relative position, but not their absolute position. I was taking a moment out to bash the Apple menu, which can't be customized. :D Mini menus? The start menu is anything but *mini*. Are you refering to context menus? Do you mean the Apple menu? Seems pretty weak to me; by no means everything is there, and there's no customization. Is this what Apple is claiming 3419 Edwin *up* to 2x faster. Learn to read, clown. Of course, if you restate it correctly to reflect the actual... Everything is in the control panel. Yes, task bar prefs are there. Display settings are there. Admin tools are there. You can *also* access some of these settings with context menus, but that's a shortcut. I agree that they could be more consistant; I still think it beats Mac OS X though. You can, of course, get rid of it. Windows is reasonably customizable.
