Yeah OS X is great but why is Apple picking on Microsoft 985Yeah OS X is great but why is Apple picking on Microsoft 986 Mojo asked : what's going on. on. Then Mojo followed up : While MS sells Office for the Mac the package does not include... No, I think you may be reading too much into it. Apple always does a little of this to amuse the folks- it never fails to get a laugh- and they just did more than usual. I think it was padding- and distraction. The Leopard preview was quite disappointing. Rather than playing up Mac OS X, they downplay Windows Vista. Maybe that was their best option at this point. Certainly as an ad campaign to sell Macs to 'switchers', it's astonishingly misguided. But that's not what they are doing; consodier the PC Guy-Mac Guy stuff that they showed. This stuff is clearly reaching out to Apple's current userbase and developerbase. It is in no way appealing to current PC users. Sun's larger problem is that they do not know what to do with their own business. They could never figure out how to make Java work for Sun, which is a shame. Apple knows what they are doing: they are fixing the Mac. The Intel transition is a part of that; so are the OS upgrades. Their greatest danger is alienating their own users and developers. Given the changes they've been making, that's a real risk for them. Playing Microsoft down like this is part of that. That is, after all, where those users and developers would likely go, if they abandoned the mothership! snip
