Oh yes he is. Look up "god" at dictionary.com:

"2 A being of supernatural powers or attributes, believed in and worshiped by a people, especially a male deity thought to control some part of nature or reality."

There are lots of gods that were created. That doesn't make them "not-gods".

Of course I'd use a "human understanding" of the word. I'm human (and so are you, I presume). Your "understanding" sounds an awful lot like doublethink to me.
