I'm sorry, sir, but we were NEVER promised "an eternal life of leisure".

As the country singer says, "I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden." Christ never promised us a rose garden. In fact, He promises us TRIBULATION and TRIAL on this planet until the very end. But He also buttures us, and tells us, "Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world".

An eternal life of leisure with 30 virgins to amuse you are never promised to Christ's Martyrs. This may be what the Muslims promise, but both the Old and New Testaments show us that the next life will NOT be one of "leisure", and our entry into that next life will not be easy.

What lures ME onward is God HIMSELF, and the knowledge that I will share His eternal nature, not His promises of reward. I want with all my heart to be free from sin, which pretty much has destroyed my life so far. If Christ does not return, the world will go up in flames because of Mankind's sinful behaviour.

I'm really surprised that the Father has given us so much rope with which to hang ourselves. He certainly would be justified in simply wiping us all out as if we never existed. The Universe would be a better place if He did. But He chose instead to allow us to find the right path mostly on our own.

As the Apostle tells us, "God is longsuffering toward us, and is not willing that any man should perish". At least at this present time, and for the last 2000 years. God has allowed men thousands of years to find their own way. Look all around yourself, and you will see the results of our search.

Let's face it, the world is falling apart because of us.
