I'm looking at the one in the PC World review that we have been discussing. Why aren't you? I notice you don't hesitate to use the PC World TEST figure for the iPod nano to compare to Creative's own spec for a DIFFERENT player than one tested to back-up your buttertion. In other words you're a cheat and a liar. And while a couple of Zen players do claim "up to 98dB" S-N ratio, its a meaningless spec. (1) The source file isn't that quiet and can't be by definition. (2) Without some idea how that spec is arrived at, its meaningless (for instance, is that spec weighted or non-weighted? If it is weighted, what weighting is being used? Using the right weighting, I could make the S-N of an analog cbuttette look as good as 16-bit PCM - as long I didn't publish the weighting information along with the figure.). You show me an in dependent test that verifies this -98dB S-N for one of the big zen players, and shows how they arrived at that spec, and I might believe them. But theory says that MP3 (or any other lossy compression scheme) cannot be that quiet due to compression artifacts. -- George Graves The health of our society is a direct result of the men and women we choose to admire.
