16 bit Windows Subsystem problem

Hello I hope you can help me with the following problem which is causing me quite a lot of headaches .

Irecently had a problem with a virus infectionand trojans running on thecomputer . so i downloaded AVG antivirus and several programs

reccommended by the Major Geeks forum on removing these programs etc . I followed the instructions on the forum and successfully removed the

trojans and virus etc .

I have now discovered a problem when i try to use MS Office 97 ,which is theversion of the package i have .When I try to print or open the

program the system reports a error and then closes the program .

This being the case I thought ok I must have deleted a file with one of the trojan detectors etc . I thought ok I will just reinstall the

programand it will be sorted . I tried to remove the program from the the addremove tool panel andit came up with the following message .

The system also came up with the message when I tried to reinstall the program from the office 97 cd

16 bit Windows Subsystem C:-WINDOWS-SYSTEM32-AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft Windows aplications. choose close to

terminate the application .

Close Ignore buttons

When i press close the program clses and nothing happens when Ipress ignore the program closes also .

I am running winXP Home but as it was a Time Computer the op sys was pre installed .

I would be immensely grateful for any help .
