Do I have a virus
I've got AVG (free)on my computer and it tells me that I (currently) don't have any viruses. But my Email (Outlook Express...

I would say it is an expense verses use thing. AOL users are not techies I would bet 95% or better do not even know what a newsgroup is and only a very small percent use them regular. This decision was made by a bean counter. I am sure AOL had someone sit down and figure out what percentage of its subscribers used newsgroups, what it cost to offer newsgroups, and how many customers they would likely lose by not offering them. Then with these numbers in hand they concluded that the expense of continuing to offer them outweighed the profit or lack there of from the customers that may leave by not offering them. It was a business decision just like many other companies make every day.

I am still amazed anyone still uses AOL. Almost all Cable and DSL companies offer a lower speed service ( something like 128out 512 in ) which is still over ten times faster than dial up for $30.00 a month and dial up AOL is $25.00. If you are going to get dial up $10.00 a month is a limit and there are numerous sources almost everywhere you can get for that. Joe
