DVD Playback Issue

If it makes you feel any better, my Apex exhibits occasional weirdness, such as (on extremely rare occasions), failing to fully power up the first time I press the power button (power button light comes on but no front panel display), or, sometimes takes a couple of eject-reload cycles to read some of my home-burned VCDs. But they are very minor annoyances that I live with, because they really don't affect my day-to-day usage, and I realize that you usually get what you pay for in consumer electronics, and Apex is a cheap brand, and I bought it for chiefly because of the price. Now, if my $250 Toshiba had niggling issues like that, it would have been sent back in a new-york minute. Perhaps your DVD issues are infrequent enough that it is worth living with as well. Everyone has their own level of patience with such things. But it would really bug me if I couldn't use the remote for navigating DVD menus on all, or virtually all my collection, even on a cheap player. That would pretty much destroy the whole point of having a remote control, and the couch potato in me would scream out in rightious indignation. ;-)
