Nero 6.3.1.20 supports my DW1620 just fine. You have to realize that all burning software, whether it be part of DVD Authorware or stand alone burning software like Nero, will occasionally have to be updated in order to support new drives. That's just a fact of life, and it's been so since CD burners were first introduced. The DW1620 is fairly new, being dual-layer, so it stands to reason that there is going to be some existing software that doesn't supoprt it without an update. You said you were using Pinnacle instant CD-DVD 7.0. Well, that's an older version of that program, and is considered a legacy product by Pinnacle. The lastest is version 8, and they don't even sell Instant CD-DVD anymore judging by their website. I looked at the compatibility list for Pinnacle Instant CD-DVD 7, 8, and Studio version 9 and the only BenQ Dual-Layer drive they support at this time is the DW1600, and that updated list was created on September of last year, and likely buttumes that you have the latest software updates to the Pinnacle program as well. Seems to me that either they don't update their software very often to support new drives, or they aren't planning on updating those older products any longer to support new hardware. When you have existing burning software you are trying to use, and it doesn't support the new drive, then sometimes you simply have to wait until the software company makes an update available that adds support for the drive you have, or else seek out alternative software that does support it. In your case, I'd either email them and inquire as to when they may have support for your drive, or just use the latest Nero, which works fine with it.
