I think that's a little melodramatic a bit of a conspiracy theory. Ordinary Americans don't have anything to worry about if they've done nothing wrong. Same here in Britain.

The main thing is that the security is a lot better now, and it's good to know these guys are doing their jobs.

Unfortunately at the moment we all have to sacrifice a little privacy for security. At some stage in the future when the war against terror is over there will be no need for such surveillance.

the pantry, panted: Erm... the dots you see are a countdown, indicating the keystrokes arenotbeing seen. Do you...

I wouldn't be bothered if the FBI or the Secret Services here in the UK were ever to monitor what I did on the Internet. Chances are 100% that I'd never know they had observed me anyway.

What is $5 and 15 minutes when it can make you earn $100,000 ? Not much, if you ask me...

Not that they would need to monitor me as they have persons to try and catch, but if expanding the surveillance net to ordinary Brits and Americans helps to catch some of those persons then so be it.

After all a lot of them for all intents and purposes go around everyday as normal Brits and Americans in our societies until they are ready to commit atrocities.

As far as the surveillance goes though, do you think for one second that this hasn't gone on before? As far as I know the secret service in both the US and Britain can monitor any internet activity, listen in on any telephone conversation or other communication being made in our countries and beyond in any language.
