Lock up problemRecover data after its deleted. 431 Daniel "Deleting" a file doesn't actually delete it; it just marks the space as available to be used. There are third-party programs that can sometimes... Lock ups are always tough to diagnose, but this one is ridiculous. This is a Slot "A" Athlon 900Mhz with an IBM 20Gig hdd running WinXP Pro of all things. The system locks up at random times and quite often during the boot sequence. The original motherboard (a Tyan Trinity KT-A) suffered from leaking capacitors and the owner replaced it with an identical board and processor he found on eBay. I've pulled all the PCI cards leaving only the AGP graphics card and the Hard Drive connected. Still locks up. Reinstalled XP Pro 3 times, managed to get all the updates and current drivers, but no luck. Tried a new power supply, graphics card, hard drive with a clean install of XP Pro, replaced the memory chips, even installed everything into a new case thinking maybe the power-on or reset buttons were faulty. (I've had it happen.) No good. I've run IBM's harddrive utility and it gave the hard drive a clean bill of health. I've run Memtest86 on each individual memory stick and all came up good. Ran CheckItPE Diagnostics on the entire system and all the hardware pbutted. Would it be safe to presume that the replacement board or processor has problems, despite CheckItPE Diagnostics finding no errors, or should I consider demonic possession? I will refrain from making M$ jokes...
