My secret to a fast PC 486

Hehe well perhaps, but there is something to be said for 3.1 and it's lack of support.

Everything that has been made for 3.1 is, was, and ever will be. Therefore, once you have maxxed out your 3.1 system, that's it. Rest easy, for you can stop at some point.

Bloody 'ell! you have really started the memories going here! Getting a loan of my brother-in-law's Microbee all those years ago, typing out lines and lines of Basic programs only to...

On the other hand, keeping up with the Jones's is like collecting Beanie Babies. There will always be more to collect. you will fill up your house and still not be done. I don't know about you, but I would like to know that at some point I can stop.

That is what I like about 3.1. It is old, but still useful. In fact, because of its age, 99% of web sites are not designed with 3.1 in mind. Therefore, most of the ads and other pointless stuff doesn't even load, most likely because 3.1 isn't capable of displaying it. The result is a much faster web browsing experience than I could ever enjoy on the newer systems.

So if you would rather pour your hard-earned paychecks into a black hole of perpetual updating then be my guest. If you would rather know how far you can go and be happy with something, knowing at some point you can stop, then use older equipment! (-:

astly, just to reiterate, this is NOT a spam or troll post, whatever you want to call it. This is legitimate. I really am practicing what I preach, and using 3.1 to the fullest. And I am enjoying it more than ever, now that I have seen what's out there.
