Very Slow ComputerMy laptop, a Dell Inspiron 5100 with Windows XP, has for the past several months been acting very sluggish to a point where it is almost problematic. Weird CPUproblem Open the task manager, and look at the processes. Click on the column for CPU. See in order, what the percentages... When I turn the computer on, it will take a very long time for it to boot up and start responding normally. The CPU lamp will be on almost constantly, rather than simply flickering. At times it can take as long as five minutes for the computer to start normally working and responding -- strange behavior for a machine that is less than two years old and has a 60 Gigabyte hard drive. At times, the computer feels and almost sounds as though it is labouring. The fan also sounds like it is working over time. Forget about watching any DVDs on this computer these days, because instead of a normal stream they are more like frames. At times the sound even gets distorted. Then everything will pop back to normal. I would be very grateful if somebody could advise me how to remedy this situation, which I am guessing are some simple steps. It is also possible that some of this is my fault; for example, the computer's desktop is quite full. CR
