That isn't to say that our healthcare system isn't out of control. It's insanely out of control. Canada pays 2-3 of what the US does per citizen. The USA is paying something like $1.7 trillion for healthcare and fails to insure 40 million people. If we had a Canada-style system, we would pay $1.1 trillion and everyone would be covered. In the insane US system, companies know it is more profitable to have more people get sick. Epidemics are more profitable than healthy people.
