On Wed, 2 Aug 2005, Kamal R. Prasad But YOUR use of the word "freedom," in the context of your sentence above and in our discussions is for some people to exploit situations which hurt other people but the context of Leslie's statement is that countries that violate agreements AND-OR countries that otherwise cause problems can have cases brought against them (as recourse) and a judgement obtained. This goes BEYOND, as I've said many times, just "rule by the BMOs" which you seem to be happy with and you don't want to look at anything beyond it. As I have said many times, law(s) -- as brought by governments -- is(are) brought and carried out for the purpose of addressing greivances and wrongs. So, you can't hide behind "might makes right" and use it to justify what is going on. But the problem, at least in China and Japan, is that those countries have yet to open up many of their markets and in services, software piracy and IP theft and counterfeit product production is in the stratosphere. Ad for a job in India 4097 Straydog Judgements can be obtained from the WTO only in matters relating to trade disputes. It cannot be obtained in matters relating to... According to people I know, this situation already exists through many mechanisms by which the existing laws are, already, being violated. The laws are poorly written and not enough money is being devoted to enforcement. Even here in the USA, compebreastion can be fair or unfair. When it is unfair, it is called anti-compebreastive practices and, yes, it all comes from business itself as well as governments who help out their businesses with subsidies, special tax breaks, etc. And, I'll add (unlike you who never says anything bad about your country), that valid charges have been brought against the USA for this by other countries. And, also unlike you (who bets all of his money on BMOs), it is a fact that if something like a situation occurs that is unfair, then retaliation can be threatened or enacted such as placing new tariffs on trade. Just recently Japan placed tarriffs on imported US Steel as a retaliatory action.
