Ad for a job in India 4101Straydog Er -we are talking of 2 different things. Im saying comparative advantage has been proven right for businesses that stick to it, and caused a collapse of businesses that refuse to adhere to it. In this context, the companies that transfer work to cheaper locales will survive the compebreastion -and the ones that insist on hiring workers in the US (when the same could be done overseas successfully) will not survive. Ad for a job in India 4105 Im not able to quote the entire text of your msg and here is some that I wish to comment upon:- "Blore is in India, so are you, no? " Its a 50 sqkm region in... What is good for business needn't necessarily be good for the entire country or the working clbutt. So, Im sticking to what I said without contradicting your source. No -it has been proven right over and over again for a couple of centuries across a spectrum of industries. Ad for a job in India 4103 Straydog snip which means that 70% of those offshoring have had reasonable success. That doesn't mean failure because it is 70% of a huge amt of work being offshored. You should take a trip... er -that is the driving force behind offshoring. I don't want to get into a moral argument with you. Suffice to say, that the law doesn't bar offshoring and as we have agreed, the law cannot be changed to that effect. Im talking something different here. Rich countries = countries with lots of economic oppurtunities. Over time, the oppurtunities available in other countries will be the same as the US, and you won't have to deal with an influx of immigrants. It doesn't mean workers in countries with lots of oppurtunites actually have the skills to take advantage of those oppurtunities. Economic prosperity of the working clbutt depends on many factors. As we speak, companies are hiring both in India and in US. As the economy improves, amt of work moved from US to India will increase -but as investment into the tech sector increases, more americans will be hired for NEW jobs. Conversely, when the tech sector tanked -people lost jobs both in the US and India. And the no. of jobs lost to downsizing EXCEEDED by a huge margin the no. of jobs moved to India. Take it from me -many of my US coworkers will lose their job the moment an FTA is signed with India. Ad for a job in India 4102 On Fri, 29 Jul 2005, Kamal R. Prasad I can prove false your sentence here by simply citing the actual fact that some 30 percent of... I don't deny the social implications of globaliation. But I just want to let you know that the proponents of globalization are in the US more than anywhere else. Now that the genie is out of the bottle, putting it back is going to be awfully difficult. Maybe you ought to ask your elected rpresentatives why they backed the WTO and numerous outher free trade initiatives -without giving a damn of the upheaval it causes. regards -kamal
