Amazon custom care comes to IndiaHYDERABAD, JUNE 8: Amazon.Com today announced that it is planning to open a customer service center in Hyderabad. The new facility, which is set to be operational in the second half of 2005, is expected to create up to 100 new customer service jobs within six months for employees in the local area. The Hyderabad centre will offer additional email support to customers of amazon.com. Pritam Baxi, Amazon's director of India customer service operations commented, "as more of our customers come from outside the United States, it is important that we have customer service representatives available to respond to our customers, regardless of the time zone they might be in. The additional resources provided by our new Hyderabad office will enable us to serve our customers more quickly and efficiently." Amazon.com, Inc. is a Fortune 500 company based in Seattle, Washington, and seeks to be earth's most customer- centric company, where customers can find and discover anything they might want to buy online. In addition, amazon.com endeavors to offer its customers the lowest possible prices. Amazon.com and other sellers offer millions of unique new, refurbished and used items in categories such as beauty, health and personal care, jewelry and watches, gourmet food, Sports and outdoors, apparel and accessories, books, music, DVDs, electronics and office, toys and baby, and home and garden. For the first quarter 2005, amazon.com had net sales of $1.90 billion, compared with $1.53 billion in first quarter 2004, an increase of 24%. Revenue for amazon.com's international segment - made up of the company's UK, German, French, Japanese and Chinese operations -- grew 28% to $875 million, representing 46% of worldwide sales. Overall sales for the company in 2004 were $6.92 billion. Amazon is looking to recruit up to 100 full-time employees for its Hyderabad customer service centre with either a bachelor's or master's degree, and who have two or more years of relevant work experience. Amazon is seeking individuals with drive, ambition and a pbuttion for ensuring that customers receive a first-clbutt shopping experience.
