America's Got Talent, But Not Enough In Tech Fields 1696
Yet another installment of we gotta kick the hell out of the wages of technical people so WE (the Repugnican management) can be profitable and still get $200M a year in salary. That is what happens when you open the floodgates to abusive use of H1B visas in the late 90's thus destroying the wages of these technical people. The smart people decide to seek MBA degrees so they can get the big bucks. Fine. Send the jobs out of the country. Go ahead and destroy the technical competence of the middle clbutt of America so you can get your greed serviced. What will happen soon enough is that India and China will wake up and realize that they do not need a bunch of $200M deadweights either. Oh Please hurry and get it done! Oh please offshore ALL the R&D and all the rest. The Indians will probably have a bout of "patriotism" of their own and tell you to stick it where the sun don't shine. As they should. We don't like living in New York or other places where the only "thrill" is being on the top floor of a big building. I want to stand on top of Glacier Peak and look at the Cascades. I want to see bears in the wild and to see the Pacific ocean. I want to live where I don't need an air conditioner and my heating can be done with a small wood stove in the winter. No subway for me, thanx. GEE!!! You think it might have something to do with the absolute screwing the technical people have taken from the Republicans over the last 10 years???? People do not "invest" in an education when the lying Republicans are going to import cheap labor to do that which they have educated themselves to do. Try PAYING a decent wage and stopping the H1B gravy train for the business buttholes. Try to look at the wage levels of engineers in China and India as compared to bean counting Republicans and you might get a clue as to how to "create" more engineering talent. There is some truth to this. In the last two years the visa system has dried up just exactly the way it was designed to do. The H1B crap was supposed to be a stop gap measure to help past the "temporary shortage of technical people" that SUPPOSEDLY existed in the late 90's. But once you give the bean counting crooks a new lollipop they will suck it forever. And you will hear no end of crying and wailing should you attempt to make them eat spinach. As it should be. Good. Fine. But there are jobs that are better done right here, and moving R&D to other nations has its risks. With any justice at all, the Republican shysters will get what they paid for. And sooner or later the Indians will tell em to kiss off. Please bring it on. We, the American technoids, can whoop their butts insofar as seeing to the needs of THIS nation. All that is necessary is ridding ourselves of the Debt Management albatross and insbreastuting a rational health system funded by buttet taxes and import duties. Good idea. The companies in India need to sell stuff to the Indians. NO. That is NOT a rational choice as illustrated by the supposed lack of technical expertise currently available. If you want more talent then pay for it. You will see enrollment in technical fields rapidly increase. America's Got Talent, But Not Enough In Tech Fields 1697 Anonymous They fire workers in US to hire on India, and blame the firing in US on .... shortage. The corporate hypocrisy is boundless. But they never considered in their chicken... There is not a lot of call for this sort of thing in the USA when you consider the consolidation that has taken place in the petroleum area. Most people who did this sort of thing in the past lost their jobs and then their homes and then their self respect and their families. Much of it due to H1B visa greed. So you'd better get to educating their replacements. And you do that by paying the current people a really good wage. It really is quite simple. Just a little bit late on that one, Charlie. I was in the Geophysical area and did software development when Motif was the rage. I was on contract to Halliburton on a development project where the bean boys (including Cheney) were spending a bazillion bucks a month and paying most of it to Arthur Anderson Consulting. The writing was on the wall: When the bean boys want to destroy something they spend enormous amounts of money on it and then go to the stockholders and tell them how much can be saved by cutting this R&D boondoggle. It happens that way every time. In 20 years I never saw it done any other way. The last thing that someone like Cheney wants is to have truly successful projects that work. Such things inevitably produce challenges to authority. Most if these "managers" have no clue as to what "skills" are actually needed and no way in hell can they actually tell if the people have "skills". America's Got Talent, But Not Enough In Tech Fields 1698 Anonymous What a pile of trash. It is really amazing how people like Christopher Scinta Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES or other underquality journalists from... Gee.... I wonder why??? And yet we wonder why people decided to do something else with their investment in education. ONLY NOW IS THE job market for engineers recovering from the devastation visited on these kinds of talent when the technical bubble broke and the H1B visa quotas went sky high. And a damned good thing. India: `The creativity out here is incredible!' 1703 On Sun, 23 Jul 2006, aj here, you need to learn more about BPO failure rates, too: Offshore... There is a critical need for these businesses to be owned by Chinese and Indians who will then hire Chinese and Indians in China and India. And meanwhile we will have American companies that hire Americans. A surge in H1B's simply makes it worse for true Americans. The failure of US education system: John Stossel's 'Stupid in America How Lack of Choice Cheats Our Kids Out of a Good Education By JOHN STOSSEL Jan. 13, 2006... Yet, Mr. Business does not want to pay wages that will attract such investments in education. What's this "We" poo, Mr. Republican owner? *WE* would be all of us. Not just the rich buttholes that own the IP rights and the trade names. Please move your rentier butt to India. We'll see how long they put up with you. The first thing that has made sense coming from this entire article. We see that defense contractors are not all that eligible for the offshore gravy train. The ONLY answer is to pay good money to the people that will actually do the work. Paying the teachers is a good start, but that is only a small piece of the puzzle. Just the same ole shootem up and the same ole rodeo. -- "I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education." - Thomas Jefferson
