Blame offshoring for the negatives of immigration

of course who is denying it. May I remind that that it was americans who wrote that in SJMN letters-to-the-editor. It was they who wanted to defend themselves and fellow americans saying that they can't work as hard as immigrants for whatever the reason may be.

I did not post that letter to draw any conclusions or generalizations. I posted it to prove the stupidity of that american in even mentioning it. I also hoped to satisfy ur question on why I feel the level-playing-field crap doesn't cut much ice with me.

I told earlier too. I found those letters to SJMN very unprofessional and puerile.

OK enuf of this nonsense. Even for the sake of argument if I accept that it is a not a level playing field between Americans and immigrants (us vs. them syndrome), put the blame on American corporation. Who wanted Indians in the first place? Bill Gates sent a veiled threat to the American Govt that if immigrants are hurt by some law in employment, he will have no hesitation in circumventing the law by moving elsewhere (read MS may shift their HQ from Redmond to Hyderabad) where the writ of american law does not apply. take it as a dessert.

U talk as if we indians swamped USA as an unwilling guest or as aliens from UFO. we didn't. You americans invited us bcos u cud not cope with the demand. Some chauvinistic Indians will like to mention some other reasons also, but I don't want to offend posters here :-)

As a white *male* you wouldn't have heard of a term called "glbutt ceiling", let alone experience it. Why do u expect an immigrant to sympathise with you, when they find themselves short changed many times bcos of the color-of-skin.

I live in Canada and probably belongs to minority Indians who like Canada. I have been treated well in Canada. But for 1 person like me, there are 5 Indians who hate Canada and call the country inhabited by f***ing racists. Their experience has been very bad and I get to hear tons of anecdotal stories about it. To name just one: the demand by Canadian companies "your resume looks good but you lack Canadian experience" is racist. Does any seriously expect a WASM (white anglo saxon male) from England or Australia to be treated the same "but u dont have canadian experience". Newspapers here outline it well. One particular guy hates them so much that (to quote him) "I am waiting for the day when the majority of them will be working in walmart and other minimum wage jobs".

So there u go.

I am not going to respond further to this thread. This thread has been converted to 'us' vs. 'them' kinda fault line dividing thread. I repeat that I have no problems with Americans-Canadians as my experience has been very good.
