Here is my take on why "globalization" started in the US, and all resulting outsourcing.

Americans became complacent about the achieved high level of material wealth and lost their motivation to strive for bringing in the material wealth. Americans used to innovate and were highly driven to develop new technological marvels and to develop the mbutt-production of everyday goods. They had such a spirit. Not anymore. People became lax inside. Such an atbreastude (and apbreastude) is enough to support the existing technologies (which provide bread and entertainment for everyone), but very insufficient for development of the new ones. A decade (or two) have pbutted... and it now appears that the American society needs new, better technologies to address the issues of today (military, political, societal). But there is no motivation for the people to become striving again. Everyone is having his bread with butter on it and where to live. People are not interested to strain themselves.

Day Brown Can you explain it to the idiots around me that the fountain of wealth to provide americans with all good things doesn't exist -and that money != wealth...

So here is where the government and corporations are designing the new motivators. First of all, they have to make the life of Americans hard again. People will scramble to survive, and learn all those skills of engineers or scientists or any other occupations which will earn them piece of bread. The powers-to-be relocated the cushy jobs to the third-world countries. No more cushy jobs left in America. Thus, the Americans have to figure out how to survive. They will be highly motivated to discover and develop new human needs, and will develop new technologies to address them. They will produce enough of stuff for themselves, and sell this stuff to the rest of the world at a premium (because nobody else has this stuff). This will also be the basis for the continuing dominance of the US in the world.

What I am saying is that the Nature does not tolerate people becoming complacent. The traditional western (American) dream was to get enormously rich, and then do nothing and enjoy the freeloader lifestyle. It never happens that way. On average, one will always have to keep his mind in the striving survival mode if he wants to keep his piece of bread on his table.

Robert Kolker As usual, you don't have ANYTHING to back this claim. You can not...

As for the TwistCreek's posting above, my comment is "what comes around goes around". The Indians "stole" the jobs from Americans only to find that the jobs are being stolen from them, too. But look at the protest of the Indians who are loosing their jobs ! It now looks like they are being taken away what was inherently theirs and their birthright. That's a human nature.
