Dell to Double Its Staff in India by 2009 2882 On Tue, 27 Mar 2006, Kamal R. Prasad Wait till your stock market crashes. The Kuwait, Saudi, and Dubai stock markets are now... I just barged into the thread and answered out of context. Besides, i am not an american and as Old Pif will tell you -I live in a different plane of reference. yeah -this is part of what I intended to say. Umm -I do not trade and have very few financial requirements-obligations, but to answer your question from the pt of view of intrinsic value of currency, we had an industrialist who started off small -by measuring the metal in one of the coins issued by Oman (a country to the west of India). The coins had more metal in them than their denomination. So he bought all coins of Oman for that denomination and melted them to make a tidy profit. In the event that the US economy hits an iceberg -your dollar bills will become worthless pieces of paper -but the coins will have residual value equivalent to the metal used to manufacture them.
No -but if I had US dollar bills with me, I would trade them for something else like gold. But then, gold doesn't attract an interest rate when kept in the bank. So, I suggested that to ensure your wealth has a residual value (in the worst case scenario), you ask for that to be paid in coins rather than pieces of paper which you call the greenback. regards -kamal
