Europe's troubles have just begun as India, China 'stealing' jobsNew Delhi, May 31: Europe is on the very threshold of handing the 21st century to Asia. A society torn apart by xenophobia, BPO and almost emasculated by a comfortable life, has gone completely out of tune with reality and barely notices that almost all its actions are contributing to make countries like India the winner in the economic sphere and, in the long run, in politics too. What has really exposed Europe now, is the suicidal bickering by countries like France over a European consbreastution. Just like the acceptance of euro as the single Pan-European currency divided the major European powers like UK on side and France and Germany on the other 10 years ago, now, the first steps to a pan-European consbreastution has created a divide in France and perhaps most of the other countries like Holland. A European consbreastution would unify the continent politically. It would create a great opportunity for all countries to present a unified front against the rest of the world. It would give credence to the saying, 'United we stand divided we fall'. Europe gave up its pre-eminent position in the world to US post-World War II. Now Europe has surrendered its second place to Asia, after the French voters in a referendum rejected the European consbreastution. In fact, Dominique Mo•si writing in The International Herald Tribune says, "For historians of the 21st century, May 29, 2005, could become a highly symbolic turning point. By voting "no" in the referendum on Europe's consbreastutional treaty they will, unwillingly and unknowingly, make sure that this becomes the 'Asian century'." An increasingly active Asia, powered by behemoth economies of India, China, Singapore, Indonesia, even without counting Japan, will overtake a divided Europe, whose citizens have been spoilt by their governments through huge subsidies in almost every aspect of life that has ensured that every compebreastive and creative streak in their body is deleted. In fact, the kind of zeal seen in Asian people is visible only in newly 'independent' countries like Poland and Hungary, Ukraine and other erstwhile Soviet Russia-controlled areas. But, this very factor has again made France says no. Rich countries like France, instead of charting a positive path for the future by working for a strong Europe, are increasingly looking backwards, to ages some half a century ago when it had an empire girdling the globe almost as powerful as that of Britain. However, this kind of thought is ensuring that almost all nations in Europe are seeing a movement to far right extremist atbreastudes that have crossed the border of xenophobia. The emergence of leaders like Jean Marie le Pen is an instance of this extreme nationalist posturing in France. It has a like-minded soul in Austria's Joerg Haider. Both these leaders, espousing hatred against foreigners, have seen their popularity leapfrog those of mainstream parties by a huge margin. Racial slur can't reverse business flow 4440 I have worked in call centres for over 12 years both in the UK and those outsourced abroad. The majority of work that was outsourced is work that the UK... However, the danger has acquired deep roots in French society. And, politicians are looking to take advantage of it for petty personal gain. While previously people like le Pen used to spew vitriol on immigrants, now the same kind of language is seen in use by moderates like former French Prime Minister Laurent Fabius. This kind of thought is largely the fault of unclear thinking on part of people in countries like France and Germany as the political elite is not able to phrase the current trends in world economies properly. As such, all talk of outsourcing and flying jobs to say Asia and even nascent free nations like Poland have created both depression and anger in most of old Europe. Europeanisation through the EU is no longer as bright a prospect if looked at from the point of view of East European countries and Asia 'stealing' jobs. Result, France rejects the idea of one Europe. Europeans don't see outsourcing as an opportunity from which countries like USA, UK and yes, even France and Germany make billions of dollars everyday, even if they pay the salaries of BPO start ups in India and China. This very money is used for promoting French, German, Dane, Belgian et al interests. If one dollar is paid to an Indian, US and European countries make $50 from the work done by him. Most outsourced jobs are menial and most white people are unwilling to do them. They are also usually at the bottom of the economic ladder in terms of importance. However, the only thing appealing to Europeans is an island mentality where they seek to shut themselves up within their borders and create a 'China wall' that would keep the so-called lesser nations in Asia and Eastern Europe from coming in contact with them IHT goes on to conclude, "The weakness of France's leaders has been exploited by demagogues and political opportunists who have managed to stir fears and frustrations. Racial slur can't reverse business flow 4438 The fake "western" names are dishonesty and fraud. It's better if they're honest and up-front about... However, even if France were to strengthen Europe by adopting the European consbreastution, signalling its intention for a monetarily, and politically unified continent, it would stem the rot and perhaps create a movement to re-invigorate society to compete with strength, creativity and pbuttion. It would prevent Europe falling, as France has, into a narcissistic idenbreasty crisis. Today, for reasons of demography and moral energy, the future lies more with Asia than with Europe. Now, how effective a strong European Union will be in the face of rampaging India and China is bound to raise doubt. These Asian countries are riding their way to power not just on the strength of their zeal and enthusiasm to succeed, they are driven by the idea of success itself in every sector of life. Europe on the other hand is growing fat on a very laid back culture that gives more prominence to fun and frolic rather than to hard work and enterprise. What it would take to re-invigorate the Europeans to the kind of effort seen after the end of World War II is anyone's guess. The future belongs, as Mo•si says, like victory, to those who desire it most, not to those who are doing their best to defeat themselves. A country like India, where the good life comes only if you work your fingers to the bone, is powering to eclipse Europe on the strength of its youthful exuberance, native talent, willingness to persevere in a very difficult job, and most of all continue to be creative in a remarkable way to generate a win-win situation. India fought its battle for unity when the British Empire was overthrown in 1947. After the pain of Parbreastion, the genius of the people slowly, but with increasing pace, have put India on top of the world. This was done not by looking backward at 5000 years of a great Indian culture. It was done by looking ahead to an even greater future with visionary zeal, and a pragmatic outlook.
