Gates: "Where are the computer science students" 4148 Patty Calcaterra In many companies, the technical staff are an expense to be whittled down as much as possible. A rather simple solution to the problem of bringing students back to Computer Science is to simplify the process and simply allow and make it easier for students to do a dual degree in Business and Computer Science or come up with an evolved program thats a hybrid of the two majors. In that case students will readily come back and once they graduate with degrees in dual majors, they will be able to secure a job readily. The problem lies with the universities as they have not been keeping pace with the new demands and changing industry-economic trends. They seem to be living in a world of their own that is far off from reality. Rather than making it easier for students to do a dual major they have on the contrary made it harder for the student to do either exclusively. In this case, the business of attracting students lies solely in the hands of American Universities and to that extent they have failed miserably. The media in America is always on the look out for a controversial story or subject. Hence, its in their best interest that a rather ordinary circumstance turns into an extraordinary suject matter that is controversial and makes for a good story on TV. So they will sit quietly and wait for that to happen. indiaBPOking.
