On Wed, 20 Jul 2005, rrc Don't know, but I'll speculate on an old fact: about 10 years ago, the WSJ offered BG, Scott McNeally...

Ever since MS got sued for trust violation, they have cranked up a lot on PR. A whole lot. They even hired a firm and I'm sure they are paying lobbyists, too. (reference: "The Lobbyists: How Influence Peddlers Work Their Way in Washington" by Jeffrey H. Birnbaum, ISBN: 0-8129-2314-6)

Ahhhhhhhahahahaha (for only a subset, the rest of the money goes to India, China, or h1bs)

they're hooked on

Some of them have become lazy. Others can read the papers about the layoffs at IBM, HP, etc. and can add 2+2.

I'd rather take the cereal. Cell phones vastly increase the accident rate for users when they are driving, and I've seen people on the sidewalk walk into walls, now, while on the cell phone, plus, I've seen surveys where non-users hate users for disturbing the peace in public places.

Why don't they invite 400 CS students from 175 schools?

I've heard this for all science and eng students.

After being on the mailing list of CS people who were laid off in the last 3-4 years, people who had no trouble at all getting jobs, well payhing jobs, anywhere they wanted, before that.... these people are very mad. Don't take jobs for these companies, they will lay you off soon aftewards.

What a crock! They've got the process so broken down into little pieces that no one guy sees more than a tiny bit of the whole thing. And, this was in the media many years ago.

"We promise people

All propaganda to increase the h1b limits. Keep the salary low or go lower.

Probably true.

even though salaries have increased and more jobs

Not as many as have been closed up, and better look at those salaries again.

Ah, the truth comes out: cry poor to the govt for buttistance, corporate welfare, subsidies.

Better talk to dubya about that.

Maybe they are figuring with all the money they are saving from hiring h1bs, they don't need help.

Its the old hype, propaganda, and rhetoric again. NIH, the cancer scientists, the HIV scientists need money, too. Funny that MS-Gates has a foundation and where are they spending their money? Malaria vacines!! How about a MSGates foundation with scholarships for CS?

And, take it out of the CEO paychecks.

Is that different than "employees"?

And, who gets the patents on this?

^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^

!

Pardon my cynicism....
