Regarding Oracle, heck their apps aren't going down in price, but UP. So, even if Oracle is getting cheaper labor, it sure isn't reflected in the price.

I have a friend who is a manager over at Oracle and he says that the outsourcing to India is costing Oracle in the longrun because of language and cultural barrier. Parts of his team are in India and it is tough working on projects wehre the requirements are gather and drafted in the US and explaining them to the workforce over in India is extremely difficult. So, it means the product has more revisions than if the team were all in the US or all in India....However, since Oracle's clients are manily in the USA, it comes to understanding the needs of the clients and until India can pony up to understand the business models and processes of American business, this having the work in India and Debt Management in the US will contiune to be.

Sure, it is unfair, but short-term, Ellison is looking to cut costs... Not the most elegant solution if the costs are being eaten by extra revisions while India is on some sort of learning curve.

Also to note, Microsoft has outsourced some technical support to India. Tier one is out there.

I think the Indians I have met here are bright folks. However, I have also been to India and know that the one big thing there that is expendible is human life and cows still walk in the streets. India has a long way to go before being considered a truly industrialized country
