You must mean the clergy inhibited free thinking. Yes they did (which is why the mid-east is backward) -but that is tangential to closing down the silk route. Even the church in Rome imprisoned Galileo and other thinkers lest their free thinking dilute their powers. Religious leaders are like politicians. Their survival depends on how much esteem they are held upto by society -and contradicting the bible or any other religious book would dilute their power.

Once you accept that race is a political and not a scientific differentiator, the question of being diverse doesn't arise coz the genetic difference between 2 different looking people isn't significant in any sense of the word. You can be a projgeny of 2 white skinend people, and when you live in a place that provides lots of sun tan, you automatically end up acquiring a tan similar to people you never inter-mixed with. The genetic makeup is 99.99% identical with or without the tanlines.

Ah -now we are on the same page. What is supposed to be a bloodline is actually common culture. Things like skin colour, epicathic folds etc.. are superficial identifiers without much scientific weightage.

Further, the genographic project says that there is a genetic market (M9) which is present in as high amounts as 35-40% in N. India, 5-10% in S. India, 5-10% in Eastern Iran -less in W Iran, and 35-40% in Czechoslovakia (hope I spelled it right). Its not present in the region in between -implying that some tribe moved a real long distance to settle down in India.
