There was at least one article that touched a nerve in EE Times. IEEE USA is suggesting to the US govt they help it to eleminate the compebreastion. Some of the posters on Usenet are mainstream people expressing their opinion as opposed to many that want to extract political mileage. My buttessment is that its for real.

Indian CAD Sector plays major role in world Architecture and Engineering field. ReceivedSPF: Neutral receiver
An important UK 3D Architecture firm recently ordered more than 2,000 hours of CAD drafting and designing, dollar valued in the mid five figure range, from The 3DCities India (3DCi), Indian engineering and architectural design...

that would be a political dimension to some group being unpopular i.e. politically motivated people try to take advantage of such unpopular sections of society.

They are pointing to the results of a survey -and Im not sure who will benefit from a misinformation campaign with the kind of stats the survey has thrown up.

The US is in for a decline coz of macro-economic imbalances. Short-term they may be able to postpone problems, long term I doubt it.

think your debt-trade-deficit has hit an all-time high and more industries will be compelled to shift out ,reducing employment because of high costs.

and since they are so arrogant (read racially biased) and greedy -wanting to concentrate all of the world's purchasing power into their hands, they probably don't deserve this bonanza. At the v least, if India-born engrs work in India -they will pay taxes which can help more people come out of poverty and in turn, they won';t have to make up a political posture to stay out of the line of trouble vis-a-vis stormtroopers of the 21st century.

Didn't particularly have a bad experience as far as most employers were concerned. I mean, the americans whom I replaced were way too heavily paid and after the H1B wage extortion -it still amounted to a salary that most americans would envy.

I do know that employers preferred H1Bs coz they cost less and retention was easier with a green card application. If you hire a person, and cannot retain him -then entrusting him with responsibilities will backfire if he quits. So, they need to be doubly sure that they can retain the guy before they hire a person. For your part, you may want to tone done your expectations in line with H1Bs coz thats easier than competing with offshore salaries.

yeah -which explains my decision to stay back in India.

You may want to read up Paul Volcker, Bill Gross and Warren Buffet's buttessments of what lies ahead of the curve for the US. India is witnessing a lot of organic growth not driven by exports -so you should be able to get customers either way. But you will get more customers if the Indian Rupee appreciates vis-a-vis other currencies and that rwquires intervention from central bankers.
