The United States of America is indeed in possession of a "fountain of wealth". If all illegal aliens and H1B and H2B visa people are exported from this country then the USA will have significantly greater natural resource per capita than any other nation on this planet (save Russia). And as far as the USA owing a lot of money you'd better take a look at who CREATES that money. The USA has the option of letting the lenders suck eggs or of just printing up some money and handing it to the creditors. So it all gets down to the false claim that follows:

This claim is false because if Americans can manage to do without so damned many gas guzzling cars then there is NO NEED FOR THE USA TO TRADE WITH ANYONE.

This is best defined as neoclbuttical economic drivel in which "the firm" is the where-all and be-all of all progress and all "good". There is simply no reason (other than self serving Republican aristocratic pig poo) to pursue this path as opposed to a path where the vast majority of the people of the nation are the where-all and be-all of progress and "good". "The firm" be damned. Your entire argument and the entire argument of the neoconomists is based on the need for trade. India, Japan, China, and others need trade. The USA may well profit from trade and should do so at its own desertion. But (other than an oil gluttony habit) the USA does not need trade to provide of a very good life style for Americans. You, Mr. Prasad, make the mistake of projecting your population problems onto MY country. If Indians can make a "Windows" operating system that is just as good as Microsoft Windows then I will most certainly buy the less expensive Indian software while paying some small import duties on it. But don't ever confuse "want to" with "must". It is not economic reality that occasions the H1B mess. It is Republican greed.

Why should I settle for less than that to which I am morally enbreastled? I know that there are those who believe in open borders and I can see the sentiment. But until a whole earth land taxation and citizen's dividend can be arranged then open borders only serve the rentier. I will stick to the political economy and not delve into the "emotions" stuff where I am not the least qualified. But on that basis I can say that while the government of the USA does not owe me a job, that government also does not owe Microsoft and others a free ride to riches on the backs of the working clbutt people of the USA. "The firm" be damned. "The firm" can move to India. lock, stock, and barrel. And no matter where they realize the income the corporations should be taxed on the basis of buttet value. No matter where the "corporate office" might be and no matter where the goods are manufactured, or where sold, the buttet tax should be applied by the various governments and most especially by the United States government that protects IP rights and trade names all over the world. Let's see em evade THAT tax.
